Safety for ALL forms of transportation has been a high priority for Marsha.
She supported the traffic calming measures on Calistoga Road and Hoen
Avenue. The recently implemented lane reduction on Calistoga Road already
is making a difference by eliminating the four-lane speedway. "The positive link between the enhanced use of alternative transportation, the improvement of our environment, and the healthy exercise of our bodies should not be underestimated. As we contemplate building more parking structures, we should not only consider that the building itself should be a "Green" building, but that it should also include electric car charging stations, safe storage for all types of cycles, provision for shuttle vans, and car-sharing opportunities. "The City's Bicycle/Pedestrian Advisory Committee, of which I am a member, is working closely with the County's Bicycle/Pedestrian Coalition to implement these ideas." "The Bicycle/Pedistrian Advisory Committee is also working closely with our public schools and the SRJC to encourage transit and other alternatives to clogging our streets and paving our lands with impervious surfaces for parking"
