Living Wage

"I support the tenets of the nationwide living wage movement and will support a living wage ordinance for the City of Santa Rosa. Along with Steve Rabinowitsh and Noreen Evans, I voted to study a Santa Rosa Living Wage Ordinance in December, 2001."

"The wages of many of our lowest paid workers are simply failing to meet their basic needs.  I believe we have a responsibility to assure that city employees, including contract employees, are paid a living wage.  While many focus on the potential negative fiscal aspects, studies have shown that there are positive effects on local economies where living wage ordinances have been passed.  See, for example, A Living Wage Makes Good Economic Sense for Local Communities by Peter Phillips."
